fallout classic t-51b heigth?

RoosterCole

First time out of the vault
So i decided to model the original t-51B from the classics on blender but I need to scale it to height there is only one picture that shows the difference between a man and the power armor which is from the intro to the canadian execution but he is kneeling and I don't know how to set the height any ideas?

You could try just standing next to a brotherhood soldier, or putting on power armor and standing next to Ian or someone.

Or you could measure the total length of that Canadian guy from feet to head and compare it to the total length of the soldier behind him.

that was helpful thanks! if i the model here is 175cm so pa must be 1.85m to 2m?

There is no guarantee that the outward joint locations are relative to the joints of the occupant.

While not strictly the PA suit from Fallout 1, there is the PA suit from Van Buren.

These looks to be 1:1 human proportions, but the in-game Knights at the Brotherhood bunker do not; IMO.

i think the gif you sent represents fallout 4 power armor more than the original we know you can wear a power fist inside power armor hat means the hands can reach the outward joint
from what i can see in van buren demo it seems 1:1
i will say for now 2m is the right scale
i drew sketches putting human in t-51b not complete and bad with horrible quality but it's the nearest thing my mind can put

Here are the game sprites side by side.

Is this to be a hobby model /3Dprint, or to be a potential game mod?

If you intend to put it in FO3 or NV, then a problem that will arise is that FO3's (and NV's) PA suits must conform to the human NPC animation skeleton; same as any clothing. Accurate PA suit models are (just about) impossible to animate in-game. Finished mesh models will have to be compromised for game compatibility. All human outfits in the games use the same animation rig; including to sit on chairs, benches, booths, and to aim firearms.

Here is my initial sketch of the ADV-MKII Enclave armor from Fallout 2, my initial model for in-game and my —as yet unfinished model (in my SIG) conformed to suit the animation system in the game.
