Fallout Collection : A few questions

First time out of the vault
Yop, this is my 1st post on this forum but the website has been in my bookmarks for a few years now ;-)
I always enjoy visiting NMA, except it seems that recently post-apoc games are cursed...Argh...

OK, back to my subject :

Well, my birthday is very soon and I want to offer a good gift to myself, so I thought a little Fallout pack would be nice (what else ? Inside of it I'll get girls and Cola, so it's perfect :) ).

My Fallout 1 is a French version and I can't find it anymore, my Fallout 2 is French too (yeah I'm French, that's why :-) ) and the CD is a bit damaged.
I know that "Tactics" is not exactly a real Fallout game but I'm just curious about it, if the pack is cheap I'll take it.

So I'm interested in buying the " Fallout Collection " White Label special pack.

I've read a few threads about it : as far as I know it seems that even if I buy the Fallout Collection from a US store, I'll get the European versions, right ?

So it means : no child ? Other censored stuff ?

Until now I've played the French version and well...it's censored and the localization was quite bad :-(

So I'd really love to play the game again, using an English version, without anything censored.

It seems there are patches to bring back the children, right ? Well, not that I'm especially planning to kill them or anything else (I'm always a good guy) (except with bad guys :-D), I just want to taste the "authentic" Fallout.
Can I get the patches for Fallout 1 AND Fallout 2 ? (is Tactics censored too ???)
Isn't too bothering to install ?

Well, I'll keep checking the forum to find as many infos as possible about it, before buying the pack.

If you have other advice that may be useful to me, they're welcomed :)

Thanks for your help.

Sylvain aka Sly.

a frog that wants to play the games in their original language? oh my! i like you already.

and yes, EU versions need the children patch, it makes a lot more sense. the pickpocketers in the Den, the kids running outside the Wright place. (the EU version simply removes the children skins, not the content. so for instance outside Wright's place, it seemed as if pile of rocks were having conversations instead of the kids running around there...)
the patches are easy to apply & they're on the NMA download section.

i dont know about tictacs, i never bought it.

anyhow, it looks like play.com has the fallout collection you're looking for: http://play.com/Games/PC/CART/3-/1021951/-/Product.html?cur=258

they ship to the entire european continent & are quite cheap mostly.

I got the White Label Fallout Collection.
They didn't give me a valid version of 2. When it installs, it stops half way; and if I try to play it, it doesn't register that the disc is in my computer.

Unless you only want 1 and Tactics; buy a different set.

That has nothing to do with the pack itself. You were just unlucky and got a CD with a manufacturing error. If you'd send it back you'd get a new copy.

Thanks a lot, SuAside, your infos are really useful.
So if I just have to put the "children patch" to get the "real" Fallouts, it's ok for me ! :)

And I'll also save a lot of money, I was thinking of buying the pack from a US shop but it would actually have been the same pack I could buy in UK or anywhere else in Europe...

OK so, soon, I guess you'll have another radioactive frog in the Wasteland ;-)

It's a problem I've experienced a fair few times with White Label. Alot of products I purchase from them have flaws.
Apologies for, y'know, trying to give warning that this is a common White Label problem.

Gee, and I was supposed to know that, how? By reading your mind?
In any case, for as far as I know, this does not happen to many people. A google search found very few results relating to cd trouble with White Label as well.
Perhaps it's an idea to check your hardware and make sure that it's not you, or just you being unlucky, before trying to tell people to stay away just because you've had a problem.

the only trouble i've had with budget bin games was from GroundControl distributed by Sold-Out Games (before it became free for download @ fileplanet). the cd worked just fine, but if you patched the game, if said you had the wrong cd in drive... kinda moronic oversight (but luckily nothing a no-cd crack couldn't help).

Well... a frog can't survive in the wasteland, coz there's not enough water... and since frogs have a very sensitive skin, they'd just dry out and die. Plus they lay eggs in the water so they couldn't even reproduce.

Anyway... t3h wAR3z t0wlk!!!!11one *alarm*

About this new Fallout Collection...I've never been able to get Fallout Tactics to work on a machine that runs any other version of DirectX than 8.1.

Has this been fixed in the White Label release?

I had that problem with a budget game (forget which one now) turned out I had used the wrong patch. I'd downloaded one for the original release without realising the right patch was already included on the cd.

I doubt it since I've not heard of anyone else with your problem.
