Fallout down to #10 in top 50

It Wandered In From the Wastes
PC gamer recently published in their April 2005 issue, Fallout as number 10 in their "50 greatest games of all time" list. It was previously number 4, I think it should have stayed there. Damn you PC gamer, you can't just change history! Still, number 10 is a good position for it. It should never leave this list...ever.

Anyway, here is a screen.

edit: I haven't been here in a while, a long long long while...this made me think of the NMA community and I had to pop in. NMA is still assigned to "my home" button, and will remain so forever. Like anyone cares

Hmm... I might go off-topic here, but I didn't find it necessary to open a new topic for this.

For those who don't check/know Moby Games, here is where Fallout 1 and 2 stand in some of their classifications:

Best By Year: 1997 - Fallout 1 on place 6

Best By Year: 1998 - Fallout 2 on place 4

Best By Platform: Windows - Fallout 2 on place 6 and Fallout 1 on place 7

Best By Genre: Role-Playing (RPG) - Fallout 2 on place 1 and Fallout 1 on place 2 (Right were they deserve to be!)

and:

All Time Best - Fallout 2 on place 5 and Fallout 1 on place 6

Err... Silencer... take a gander at the time stamps.

The news topic came from this thread, also, we used Edge386's image.

Besides, people can discuss the MobyGames list in this thread.

What the bloody hell is Lord of the Rings: Return of the King doing on place 14? That's just....bullocks. What happened, did the entire staff of that game vote for it?

I think the only reason that Fallout is falling off of charts is simple: people don't know about the game anymore. It's been 8 years, most of the younger kiddies (and even older ones) have never played the game.

Well, of course the problem with all the MobyGames lists is that each game is not scored equally.

On the All Time Best list, you have some games with only very few votes. It's quite possible to warp the results with only a few people on certain games.

Oh, sorry about that Edge386. I feel like an ass

Thanks for clearing this up too, Kotario... good thing I didn't vat this

Haha, not a problem at all. I have't been here in a while so it was cleared up before I came back. "My Home" button is assigned to the frontpage :P

Might be a little late to reply to this....but why do you say that? It was fresh when I posted it and it was a completely new list. I even ran some searches before posting (I have learned from previous mistakes! :D )

I don't think he meant your list. He was probably saying that he didn't feel he should post the older lists in a new thread.

I don't really respect any of these "top games" lists anyway, but at least people still give recognition no matter if the game isn't new and shiney.

In the February issue of Swedish PC Gamer, which unlike that one mentioned in the first post actually comes out in February and not December or something, there was a readers' top 100 with these RPG (or "RPG") entries:

58: Torment
38: Fallout
27: Baldur's Gate
21: Deus Ex
20: Neverwinter Nights
19: Morrowind
16: Fallout 2
9: KotOR
8: Baldur's Gate II

For comparison, here's the corresponding stuff from the editorial list from the September issue:

73: Morrowind
42: Dungeon Master
23: Neverwinter Nights
22: Fallout
16: Torment
4: Deus Ex
3: Baldur's Gate II

KotOR was omitted from this list by mistake; also on this list the presence of Fallout precludes that of Fallout 2 and so on.

I'm kind of scared at what else is on the list now. Probably stuff like "Final Fantasy" and "Diablo" made the list...

Well, so much for popular taste.
