I didn't know porn was considered movies.
Yeah, I'm on a rented server myself and I know the legal stuff. No porn, no illegal content, no advertising of illegal content.
I don't think advertising eMule is a crime tho. After all it's an open source product. Even more so with BitTorrent because it's used A LOT for distributing open source software.
I think you should only ban people for advertising or mentioning illegal use of P2P software, such as ... well, everybody know what.
Honestly, the things you mentioned rarely, if ever, come up in discussion on the board so it's not like we're missing out on anything.
Not really. Free software (although usually more in the freeware sense than the open source one) is advertised a lot. Heck IanOut is freeware and it's got its own subforum.
Anyway. The only thing I really got to say about music piracy is that there's no way of stopping people from hotwiring their speakers and mikes in order to copy a track, thus all copyprotection eventually becomes futile. Not saying the artists don't deserve to be paid -- quite the opposite, they don't get payed enough.
As for computers, I miss the days when only geeks were able to use them. At least it kept out the trash and nobody was insane enough to think about actually selling something as basic as an OS -- if the Windows kernel was sold with a basic GUI for a low price in addition to the distros already for sale, I'd be able to name more than a handful of people I know who have actually payed for their copy (mind you, I own almost every version, but I bought them off eBay).
Keep up the cleaning tho. Illegal distribution of commercial software is something which shouldn't be promoted. It's promoting itself enough already.
