Fallout Inspired Art - Introduction

The Nomad

First time out of the vault
Hey guys, I've been a seething follower of fallout ever since I'd watched my older brother play the first. I've got a few drawings/renders of some work I've done. I work in the game industry and I was lucky enough to do some outsourced asset work on Fallout 3, although I can't show you any of that yet. Here are a couple personal works of mine dating from 1.5 years ago and older:

I've you'd like to see more of my drawings, I have a devart page http://mark-je.deviantart.com/gallery/
Most of what I do nowadays can be found on my website www.mjeaton.com
although since all of my industry work is still under NDA until the games are released, it's a little sparse.

I love the first. The eyes and the feeling also reminds me of the enclave armor.

You can not (just) tell us, what outsourced work you have done for Fallout 3? :>

Hmmm. My common sense is tingling.

I was lucky enough to do some outsourced asset work on Fallout 3

Say, would you have any kind of proof, other than the outsourced material itself, for this claim? Don't get me wrong, your stuff isn't bad per se, but it's hardly at the level of others Beth has hired for outsource work in the past.

About the pics themselves, the first and second pics look the best. Focusing on your characters pose/stance before 'describing' the light-play and materials would be a good idea; here's a link to a pretty solid tutorial on this very matter: http://members.shaw.ca/dmandryk/Assets/Images/tutorial_page_warrior_chick.jpg

Thanks to those of you who enjoyed it :D
And for those of you who think my work is below par from that of Bethesda's and their outsource companies, It's because the above work is rather old and well before I graduated or started any job in the industry. I wish I could just brandish my last 8 months of work.

http://liquiddevelopment.com/ - This is where I work.

http://liquiddevelopment.com/project.php?client=Bethesda_Softworks&project=Fallout_3 - This is a direct link to the Fallout 3 work it was mainly weapons/armor assets., but Bethesda is particularly strict on disclosing any art before release, so there are only place holders for now.

This is my work e-mail: MEaton@liquiddevelopment.com
you can e-mail me there to verify I work there.

@Wooz - Thanks for the crit, I did these drawings before the bulk of my fine art classes in college. The stance, silhouette, and proportions are off, but it was something I made in the idea of fallout so I submitted it anyway.

nice art, but doesn't feel extremely Fallout-y to me. seems more than capable to stand on its own though.

Awesome job man.I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I like your work, Nomad. I am also very interested in concept art and 3D modeling myself. Care to talk about the digital tools you use? I'm guessing there's Zbrush and Photoshop. What other software, renders and compositors do you use? I'm not yet at a level to put out this sort of work, but am working to get there. So far I've only used Photoshop, After Effects, and Lightwave. Learning Maya.

Not sure if you've heard of them, but if you're interested Ballistic Publishing features loads of artwork from many talented artists, great for inspiration.

Looks good to me - reminds me of a merge of Fallout and the artwork from the movie Fifth Element (Luc Beson)
