Fallout Modded Xbox

The Faceless King

First time out of the vault
Hi guys, first time here, played Fallout many years back, though my CD's are MIA :(
Anyways, I recently started a Fallout-ish xbox mod. A friend gave me his old xbox as the hard drive is apparently bad, another friend is giving me one that has a bad DVD drive, so I'll have a free xbox when done. I'll be soft modding this and using a custom Fallout skin for the interface, here is the first draft of the interface.

And here are some pictures of the xbox itself, it is a work in progress, I would like to add a Pipboy character to the bottom left corner of the front panel. I would also like to add rivets (I may just use split peas if I can't get the rivets to work right) to the case and some sort of graphic on the top panel towards the bottom, perhaps the Brotherhood of Steel logo?

The xbox itself, or just the interface? The interface uses images I found in your gallery actually, but I may mess around with doing some different ones, I also want to use a different font for the interface.

I just got off work and have my fake rivets, I'll be painting and adding them tonight.

Funniest thing is, I don't think you're realizing that Fallout 3 is going to be released for Shitbox 360, and not the plain old Xbrick.

I know exactly what it is being released for, I have a 360 as well. But I am not hacking the heck out of that.

This, I have no problem doing, I have multiple Xbox's so doing this costs me, well, nothing, add some nothing, oh and a couple cans a spray paint. So like $3 or so total.

Originally I was going to be making a Mecha styled case, ala Steel Battalion and the such, but I decided I preferred Fallout.

BTW, you could have said that much less rudely.

Anyways, added the "rivets" how do they look?

Looks pretty decent actually, I like the faux-rivets. The finish should look a little more beat-up, probably, and I'm not personally a fan on that power-armor pic from Beth you're using, but still. Good work.

Interface is cool too, though it'd be coolest if you could get it looking like a PipBoy.

I love the xbox. the interface needs a little work (just a little more rust, a more fallout feel to it)

The pipboy I am using is the Lilpip 3000 from the Van Buren project, I am not very photoshop savy so rusting it would be very hard.

If you are able to help, I would appreciate it a lot.
The only other thing I may be able to do would be to take the main menu and modify it, or modify one of the following menu types.

I could potentially break these things down and blank the backgrounds, then rearrange them till they fit properly.

Any thoughts and comments are appreciated, the better I can make this the happier I will be.

I would like to add rust to the the case, perhaps especially around the rivets, I am thinking I may be able to use some rust colored paint, mixed with a bit of baking soda to give it the texture, then apply it as needed to fake the rust.

Also, I decided what is going on the front.

Beside this along the front it will say Vault-Tec, though I need a logo design for it.

A drawn VaultTec logo is in the Fallout manual after the skills section. A 3D version is in the save/load menus below the buttons.

You could take the innards out of the case, wet the case and then sprinkle iron filings over it in appropriate places and leave the case to dry outside for a few days. That should give you a nice rust effect.

Perhaps, instead of a BoS soldier where the Xbox logo usually is, maybe there should be a Vault door, maybe emblazoned with a big, stencil 13. Or, a Vaul-Tec logo. Either one sounds fun. Good job so far. :D

I can't get over the ugliness of the original XBOX myself

... so more power to you for making it look better

Frackin awesome mod! Don't mind Dark Legacy, sometimes he gets... odd thoughts, and acts upon them without thinking.

Have you made mods like this before? If not, I'm quite impressed... I do agree with jello however, more rust! :ok:

This is my most serious mod to date. My others will simply some PC case works, not much though. And I skinned my other xbox and cleared the jewel. I'll work on the rust soon.
