Fallout Pen and Pencil

It seems the folks interested in Fallout Pen and Pencil keep posting on this board. Do they belong here?

I'd like to hear what you folks think about this.

I don't mind. While it does fit into the General Fallout Discussion thread, I have no qualms with it being part of this board and it kind of fits.

There could be a lot of overlap between the Pen and Pencil people and the roleplay folks. So it might be to everyone's advantage.

I believe that pen and paper queries would be acceptable here. This is a role-playing board and it is understandable that new comers will assume the board is designed to facilitate the pen and paper element as well as our own venture.

So I support the inclusion of Pen and Paper discussion on our Role-playing section. My only qualm would be that I might get excited when the board name is glowing yellow, making expect a new IC post only to find that it is only a pen and paper question, but I'm sure I can get over that.

From the Revolutionary War through the Civil War, the small number of veterans of American wars had three sources of assistance from the Federal government. The government offered land grants to veterans as compensation for their service, particularly following the Revolutionary War, when it used the land grant system to develop unsettled territories of the new nation. In 1833, the Federal government established the Bureau of Pensions, which made small cash payments to veterans. The low numbers of the veteran population and the more attractive offer of free land kept the pension system relatively small until after the Civil War.

It's great that DAC has the pen and paper, but I see no reason why we can't allow a group of Pen and Paper fans to post here. In fact, I think the discussion would be very interesting.

Here's a bit of advice for pen and paper fans. Check out a D20 system called Darwins World by a company called RPG Objects.

While this is not 'official' Fallout pen and paper, its about as close as you're going to get.

I'd be curious to see if anyone has tried to compare Fallout Pen and Paper with a couple of the other post-apocalyptic pen and paper games out there. I remember peering through Gamma World a long time ago and then there was the Morrow Project. While not Fallout, they did have some interesting ideas.

Darwin's World even seems to have their own equivalent to the Brotherhood of Steel.

Anyone interested should check out the articles on this site.

The Morrow Project was originally by Fantasy Games Unlimited, as was Aftermath.

You also have Twilight 200 which has been reprinted recently.

I took a look at it. Seems very akin to the Fallout world. Interesting. Thanks for the info.

No problem, I just recently got the game myself and found it to be fairly close in some ways to Fallout, not that that is a bad thing. :D

I took a look at some of the downloads off the web page you suggested. I liked the maps a lot, but I was a bit disappointed that there was so little about critters or types of weapons used. Any thoughts from you?

If you look at the preview for the book Terrors of a Twisted World, this is essentially the 'monster manual' for the game.
