Fallout restoration savegame editor?

Adanu

First time out of the vault
Hello... I just installed this thing for my gog.com purchase, and wanted to know if I should use any specific editors for this thing... I HATE having to start from nothing but a spear, and just want to give myself a few items to offset the extreme lack of viable weapons in the beginning.

Fallout 2 Inventory Editor
Description:
Small, but great utility for cheaters. You can change your inventory, but agan, not add new items (change stimpak into rotgut but you cannot change nothing to rotgut). Also, I recommend you to read the readme.txt file before modifying your saved game.
Be aware that the tribal outfit you start with don't have animations for most weapons, so if you equip the wrong ones, your game will crash.

I can deal with going through the temple without cheating. I just don't want to leave the village without having decent equipment :D

That inventory editor doesn't work for me... it says it can't access my save.dats

What do want this is the nature of the game ?
You have to travel outside the vault to make your own experiences (earn money finding weapons)
It´s awful to have a Horwitzer still at the beginning :D

Well it works for me. It sounds like it can't find your save game. I think the program looks for where Fallout is installed in the registry, and if you moved the game or installed it manually it can't be found.

Try the Fallout II Savegame Cracker, it should work.
Inventory and character editor, can edit GVAR values in saves. To switch to English language, click on right bottom button of the interface window.

This version of the game is from GOG, but I put the exe in the same folder... do I need to specifically point it out?

I don't know anything about the GOG version, so I can't tell you what's compatible.
What program are you talking about? If it's the save game cracker, just open it, push the button in the lower right corner to get it in English, push "Browse" and locate your Fallout2 folder, "ok", then push your save slot and then push "open".

Since you have the GOG version, is there any chance I could get you to look in the registry and tell me where it installed Fallout 2?

The original game installed its key into the registry here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Interplay\Fallout2

I assume the GOG version will be under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ as well.

Just go to start menu, run, type regedit, and then search for the key.

Thanks!
