Fallout Shady Sands Crash

First time out of the vault
So I recently bought the Fallout collection on steam and almost shit myself when it finished downloading (EXTREMELY EXITED), but I had no idea of the pain in the ass Windows 7 stuff. I know computers so I fixed the color by starting task manager and stopping explorer.exe (You can start it back up). After that I had the black screen. I got Fallout FIXT and I loved it I was able to actually move around and go to Vault 15, but I also saw Shady Sands. I tried to enter but it crashes and I have not tried it anywhere else so others towns might too (It worked for the Khan base though) :violent: :wall: :help:

That's probably not the best solution. What I do is open the file called ddraw.ini, go under [Graphics], and set Mode=4 (or 5 for windowed mode.) There will still be moderate corruption during the cutscenes, however.

You could also try installing a high-resolution patch. More info here:

Similar to the OP, I bought the Fallout Collection on Steam a week or so ago. I installed Fallout FIXT, and the game has been running mostly well except for a few problems here and there. However. there is one persistent issue that I keep encountering: every time I try to go to Shady Sands, the game crashes and I get a memory read error. I've tried running the game through Steam and through the FIXT launcher to no avail. This is the only area where this has happened so far.

Andy suggestions? I also apologize for the thread necro, but searching found it and it had a similar problem to mine, so I did not feel the need to create a new thread.

I appreciate any help provided.
