[Fallout] Sluggish performance over 800 x 600 resolution

Got GoG version of Fallout installed (ver 1.2), with Fallout Patch 1.2 ENG TeamX and Fallout1 High Resolution Patch v3.0.6 on my ACER Aspire 4830TG Laptop.

The max resolution of the laptop is 1366 x 768, and Fallout performs a bit slow when it is running over 800 x 600 resolution, and it cannot run 16-bit colors.

Any thoughts?
 
I seem to remember some complaints about the GoG version of Fallout... Notebooks are usually pretty slow to begin with, so I wonder if that may be the problem?
