Fallout 2 mod Fallout Sonora 1.14 and Sonora Dayglow 1.14 Vanilla Translation

Just noticed that all long guns (rifles and shotguns) in Sonora are considered as "Big Guns" (they have the weapon flag set, and the change of the skill FRM also reflects this), so the description of the Small/Big Guns skills need to be changed.
Thanks NovaRain - I knew this and thought it already reflected those tweaks. I have corrected it now as this change to small/big guns has caught more than a few people.

In RCAgatha there is a gender mistake in line 1313: "Where's Cadet Presley? You were the last one to see her." Presley is a guy

@Cambragol I have already installed Novarain's support pack and there is a problem with edges on the maps. I have also a second install of yours prefered method, sadly 640x480 on my 48 inch monitor doesn't look so great. I will test your idea with renaming patch000.dat. Thank you for your time.

Would it be possible to add a gender line to TCPadre?
Line 206 ends like this: "I'm glad you're here, son." There is no 'daughter' variant for that line, while line 264 and 1264 make this distinction of son and daughter
Either this or just change "son" to "my child", which I imagine is a lot simpler

Fallout 2 CE can display any resolution you want to play the game at. Map edges will also be hidden if you add 'HiResMode=1' to ddraw.ini

That can be done. I already fixed the script tfor padre at some point, so I can do this for completeness. I will be in the next version.
Thanks
VCBandit has a couple of "Your" that should be "You're" in lines 278 and 281:278: I see your pretty touchy about this.
281: In my opinion, it just sounds like your making excuses for your incompetence.

Also, while playing around with my translation for a little bit, it made me realize how much effort goes into writing dialogue for a mod; when you look at the file, it's a lot, but once you're in game the dialogue goes by so fast...

Thanks for your work again, even more so because you're keeping it updated and making changes to ensure a good experience

Cool, got those. Yeesh, I made that mistake a lot.

Screenie looks good. I guess you are very close now then?

No prob. That is my main goal. A good experience for every classic Fallout fan. I hope lots of people get to experience over the coming years. And soon Spanish speakers will be able to as well! Nice.

Fairly close - I have around 60 dialogue files left to translate, everything else is finished. Some files will need updating because of the added lines, but that shouldn't last too long. It's been a really fun experience - learned a lot, both as to how the games work and about myself since this is the first large project I've taken
After this I'm not sure of what I'll do (aside from updating this translation), I'd like to translate the total conversion mods like Nevada, 1.5, Last Hope and the others, but this year I'm finishing school and then have to decide what to do next, and I'm sure there won't be much time after that point...
If so, I'll try to make a tutorial about how to translate mods like this, so others can have a shot and the necessary files, programs and potential error fixes at their disposal.

Anyway, here's some stuff:
GCLucas:
Line 241: "Yes, rumors travel fast in the Garage." Since he means Garage City, perhaps "travel fast in this city." could work, I'm mentioning this because you've fixed instances of "the Garage." in the past (VCJose had this if I'm not wrong). This is not the only file: FCBarmen also has an instance in line 394.
Line 177 lacks a space after the dots: "Hmm...I'm a little reluctant."
Line 251 says "Yah", unless this is intentional. There are other files with this too:
GCBarmen, line 232.
GCEugene, line 326.
GCImgrnt, line 234.
MCPrison and YCSantPs, both in line 257
JCRanger in line 277

That's pretty close then.
A tutorial is a nice idea. I had an urge to create some kind of 'dialogue path' parser, to make reading through the dialogues easier, but in the end I just followed the scripts. Still, some kind of system to make the path through the dialogues in the dialogue files themselves would have saved so much time. Tools vary with time, so the procedure itself is critical. And realistic estimates of time needed to be spent.

Fixed all these, except for 'yah' as that is intentional, a slight dialect/accent change to 'yeah'

I think it'll help, especially with a few quirks like certain files needing chinese characters to display accents

Some files have s's, which I don't believe it's intentional unless it's also meant to be a dialect
FCBarmen line 230 and other files have instances of s's: "His names's Chris."
GCBoss line 247: "Lucas's men robbed Trayvon"
FCBishop has instances of this whenever Festus' son is brought up, such as line 319 and 321
VCMsgnr's two opening lines have this issue

Some files have s's, which I don't believe it's intentional unless it's also meant to be a dialect
Adding an s, after an apostrophe for possessives with names, is intentional. For names it is accepted, though some style guides differ. If it is not a name then it is an error, so I'll fix those.

@Hubal - you should be able to zip it up, and attach it right here, or through a direct message.

If it is too big, then maybe a file service of some kind?

Thank you for all of your hard work with helping out CambraCHAD perfect the translation, and this is going to sound super imposing, BUT since you've mentioned potentially translating Nevada, would you be interested in giving a look at Foxx's latest Nevada repack (v3.4)? Translation for Nevada was already done years ago by Keyboard Gecko and it's pretty much perfect ("Nevada Expanded Version"), but Foxx made some updates to his repack (and small dialogue changes along with them) that make KG's translation incompatible with it. Not sure if there's an easy way to just compare dialogue files and make updates where necessary? The reason why I'm asking so shamelessly is because I don't know a lick of Russian and in time I became partial to Foxx's repacks because they are so easy to use and come with all of the sFall goodies (his Resurrection and Sonora repacks are top tier). Thanks for reading and hopefully considering :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

If I do end up doing it I'll give it a look and find out what changed specifically, it it's just updating Gecko's work it shouldn't be so hard (or so I hope). Also, if this translation was the one included in the Fixed Edition I was thinking of giving it a look in a couple of places anyway: I remember a character in the Vegas slave pen was completely in Russian and Chris Avellone crashed the game if you interacted with him in the Interplay encounter. Also, to be fair I don't think I've done much
Thanks! Worked perfectly.
Do you need another one? I got a few of them when I last played, both to destroy the Rangers and the Brotherhood, but they're from previous versions

I think I am okay for now, thanks. I found an issue in the original order of the end slides, and wanted to check it. Also, fixing end slides for an 800x500 version.
