Fallout Tactics / Edtor Problem

[Roe] Snake

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Hey Guys,

I re-installed FOT, since I upgraded my system to Win2000. I ran down the updates (upto 1.27) and whenever I start the editor after reboot, it kicks me out without any error message... I need to reboot, install the 1.27 update and then I can start the editor... Whenever I reboot, the damn thing keeps kicking me out, same thing, reboot, re-install update...

This really bugs me since I have to reinstall the damn up-date everytime I've rebooted...

Anyone any suggestions on how this problem might be solved or what might be causing this ?

Greetz,

Snake

Bizarre?

I guess you may want to avoid rebooting! Check to see what programs are run at startup - there could be a conflict between resources. Also make sure there is enough memory available, maybe you are running the bare minimum? Or some other program is hogging the memory.

Hmmm,

It's a PIII - 1 GHZ, 780 MB Ram, 64 MB GFX... All my resources are currently off, I mean, just running Msn, it doesn't start automaticly, put off a few services that I don't use, disabled a few start up items... But I can't seem to find the problem.

When I want to use the Editor, I need to reinstall, what kinda crappy ass action is that ? I really don't get it... And I spend 2 years getting my Computer System Management degree... Pffff, anyone know how to solve this ?

Ctrl-Alt-Del and go to the Task Manager. Click on the Processes tab and see what progs are running that are using large blocks of memory. Ideally, you shouldn't have anything running more than 50k. If there are a few running that much, end the process.

Windows 2k isn't the friendliest system for running games. I use it at work but don't have much success installing most games, but maybe that's because I don't have all the admin privileges. XP pro seems lots better in this regard.

Could it be because I installed the FOT 1.27 NO CD Crack ?

I use the CD Crack because I'm modding FOT, booting up FOT like 20 times a day to test all kinds of things... So I save my CD's from damaging...

Second, it's not the memory that's a problem... If I reboot my computer, the FOT Editor kicks me out without any messages or errors... When I re-install the 1.27 Patch, it works, until I reboot my computer, then you can start all over again... reboot, reinstall, reboot, reinstall... it's not the memory...

Could it be, since I'm running Win2000 on NTFS ? Should that explane the problem ?

EDIT:

Took me a god damn hour to set the HD FAT32 and reinstall Win2000, I'm currently running the Fallout Tactics Booster and then I'm gonna install FOT 1.27 Patch and restart my computer... If the Fallout Tactics Editor starts without a problem then I know NTFS caused the problem. I've tryed everything else... So that should fix it... I hope :?
