Fallout Tactics Sprite Sheets - Exist or Rippable?

GroZZleR

First time out of the vault
Hey all,

I'm working on an Isometric Engine and would love to get some snazzy graphics into it for testing purposes. I haven't quite decided what kind of game I'm going to make, but I still have much of the engine left to code, so that will have to wait.

Is there a way to rip the Fallout Tactics character sheets? Or do sheets already exist? I'm just looking for one or two characters to have some fun with, not trying to make a whole game out of them.

Thanks for anyones help.

Sorry, a sprite sheet is a giant image of all the possible frames of animation and every direction.

Here's what I mean by a sprite sheet:

These .frms are pretty cool, but the .frm viewers I've been checking out, only have the frames where they're looking to the north east? Am I just SOL or is there a program out there that can understand and view every direction? If it could save them as normal images as well, that would be spiffy.

Like I said, I have no problem putting the actual sheet together myself, but with the characters only facing north east it's fairly useless to me.

Any ideas?

1) You need a good FRM viewer to view the other directions, such as Frame Animator

2) You can use 'Spr2Gif' to convert the fallout tactics images into animated GIF files. The FOT critters each face 8 directions

3) You can use 'Frm2Gif' to convert all the Fallout 2 sprites into animated GIF format. All the Fallout 2 critters only face 6 directions (including the FOT ones I converted into FO2 format)

Also there was a Russian (I think) mini Fallout game that used sprite sheets. You could probably jsut copy those ones straight over.
It was called something like Fallout unlimited, though I honestly cant remeber its name.

Does anyone know what that FO mini game was called and where to get it?

I think it was called Fallout Ground Zero and it can be found here: http://supermutant.de/deutsch/include.php?src=./misc/Fallouti.dcr

The dev team is german and this game was just an appetizer because they want to develope an own Fallout engine. ;) But they're not that far, as least this is my impression. So the next IanOut beta will be released earlier ;)

For the FoT sprites that have different rotations, Red Viewer lets you see them all by clicking on the orientation in the GUI (NW, N, NE, etc). You don't need to convert the FoT sprites to view them with this viewer.

I'm suprised you linked to DaC, the file NMA has http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=573 is the latest version and it can handle sprites and frms without needing to convert them. You might need to install the msi version first though.
