Is there a tool or method that allows one to add characters back into ones party?

For some reason, in my latest run, I've lost my wife and Cassidy, and really cannot start over from the beginning.

I tried checking out the GVAR's with f2se, but didn't see anything obvious.

the only method I know of is hitting escape and pressing Load Game to load game state from before they died.. it's as simple as that :p
