As the Fallout3 becomes closer and closer to program step, should there be or should there not be multiplayer option, and what kind it could be like, possible options could be diablo2 type or ultima online type multiplayer? As personal oppinion, i finded diablo multiplayer boring, but, on the other hand Ultima Online world is all explored and overpopulated, and same could happen to fallout3(not to mention bugs when it was released, i thought Lord Britannia was immortal)...

And my usual post script write:
(To Magic: the gathering players) What does words "Shahrazad" and "Once more with a feeling" make you think?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I'd continue screaming, but I think I've gotten my point across. Oh, and how did the fact that UO SUCKS *not* factor into you asking this question? Seriously?

UO doesn't suck just after a while you get tired of all the nerdy little nerds having cybersex with each other and have to go on lots of PK rampages and then make the GM who comes to ban you crack up with scores of jokes and live with it

RE: Fallout+Virtual World?=Coal or Diamonds?

Ok, hence the "UO" from the title. But don't you think that having battle with all F3 wish list members would be cool? Let's face the facts:

+ More gameplay
+ More interaction
+ "Make your own army recruiting dumb bastards" stuff
+ Have a job/profession
+ Kill your best friend
- Cost?
- Server in USA?
- Slowness(billion users at the same server)
- Player Killers
- PK's recruiting dumb bastards
- People selling bookshells

What the hell? Fallout fans are NEVER dumb bastards. FALLOUT! FALLOUT!

What's a bookshell?

Why is killing your best friend good?

You've obviously never made the mistake of playing UO... it's hard to recruit dumb bastards, they have to be smart, clever little latchkey kids to convince their parents to pay 10 bucks a month for some game.

Oh, for fucks sake!

ooooh-booy! hence...

If you know from what game OOOOOOooh-boooy came from, i'll give you an clap.

Assertion: Humans cannot be trusted!
Conclusion: Humans must be destroyed!

Seventy-six, Seventy-nine, I remeber! Seventy-one...

I'll put this as nice as I can:

Read the older pages of the General Forum, where this was brought up before.

If you think you can keep the feel of Fallout in a MMORPG, to put it as nicely as I can, you've got to be incredibly fucking naive.

RE: I'll put this as nice as I can:

Hahah, did i anger you, big, bad admins, don't worry, i won't cause any more problems.

(it's Star control three by the way, game i mean)

No, you didn't anger me at all. It's just that if you think you can keep the immersive world and complex storyline and NPCs of Fallout in a MMORPG, you're one of the biggest morons to visit here in a long time.

RE: I'll put this as nice as I can:

as i've said before... if you were on a desert island with no links to the outside world and all you had was a computer and the game fallout, along with the abilities to create a multiplayer version of Fallout by yourself; then, in the end, you would most likely come up with FO:BoS. i honestly don't think there's any other way to create a multiplayer Fallout people. i take that back... there is another way i am sure, i've thought of some... but, they'd cost way to much money and time to produce with the current technology. maybe in another 10 years or so... but not now.

Ex: you could create an evolving multiplayer engine of some sort. basically you'd have to have a truly ass kicking A.I. of some sort. very complicated programs.

With a stretch:

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Nov-07-00 AT 03:12AM (GMT)[p]Multiplayer for Fallout might be possible...but it's not the same. Doesn't have the same depth, nor would it.

Check out UO and EverQuest, AC, etc.

Those are MMORPG games. The story and RPG content of those is utter shit, completely. In UO, it's playing a tailor, endlessly clicking on sequential items to make a shirt, in which you sell. A Ben Stein 'wow' there. The battle also becomes dry after the hundredth fight, and after 2 years of playing it, I should know. It truly sucks.

Now try to put in a good story, and also NPC depth in it. Not possible. Look into the old threads on the General Board on this topic, because it does get nasty because people verbally masturbate about it, and don't think how the game would turn to shit. Everyone would try to be the mass-murderer, etc...and it would just be another sociopathic setting like any other MMORPG game. There would be no sparse societies or groups like in Fallout, it would just be like ripping a couple of guilds in UO and putting them in a retrotech/post-apocalyptic setting, and having them fight.

Aside from about .1% of the UO population interested in the possiblity of role-playing, and the rest intent on killing anything that moves, what makes you think that FOOL (FallOut OnLine) would be any different?

To insist on turning a good RPG into MMORPG would be a very stupid and contrary idea to the origins of the game.

Sorry for ranting, but this is a very sensitive subject here, and people don't bother to think about HOW things would be done before verbally masturbating all over in a bout of nonsensical spittle.

RE: With a stretch:

I agree with you completely roshambo... i don't want to see Fallout rapped like that either. I know that you can create a multiplayer Fallout... but it would be utter shit. What i was saying is that it is possible to do it and to do it right. But, for that to happen we'd have to wait for some really awesome advances in the MMORPG industry and programming techniques. But, i do think it is possible to have a multiplayer Fallout... but like i said, i don't want to see it any time soon. If it's done, then i want it to have the same effect on the MMORPG industry as the original Fallout had on the RPG industry... utterly changing the way we think about gaming. And again, that won't happen for years to come, if at all.

RE: With a stretch:

Well, it's not the advances in MMORPG technology...but more along human nature.

Just like in some MUDs, people will kill every mobile available, and that goes true for UO/EQ/AC, etc.

So it's not going to be the technology that's the main hinderince, it's convincing the other 99.9% that the game isn't some kind of 'see it, kill it' game. If the majority wants to kill things, then that's going to be the focus of the game, unfortunately.

RE: With a stretch:

yeah that too, but i wouldnt want to see a Fallout MMORPG designed around the current engines we have today. i would want something completely new. like what interplay is doing with SFC2 and the metaverse. not saying i want something like that, just saying that if a FO:MMORPG was created then i'd want it to be just as revolutionary as the metaverse is. but yeah, keeping it from being a "shootum up" game would be very hard... which is all that you are going to get using the current programming techniques. which is why i said that it'd be best to wait 10 years or to build a completely new MMORPG engine that is like nothing we have ever seen before. and as i said earlier, right now, the ONLY thing that you'd be able to come up with, would be FO:BoS. that's the closest were going to get to having a FO: MMORPG currently.
