Fallout/Wasteland 2 tidbits

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
We've rounded up a bunch of minor tidbits that probably wouldn't get a newspost by themselves, but that together certainly make for a good read (or at least a read without adjectives).

- Our furry friend Tagaziel has penned a summary of the progress on Wasteland 2 over at Wasteland2Guru. Given it's a summary don't expect anything new in there, but for people that haven't been following the project closely it paints a pretty comprehensive picture.

- And speaking of Wasteland 2, Brian Fargo teases an upcoming updated showing off the new and improved HUD by the end of this week. Keep your eyes peeled.

- In Shamus Young's Diecast ep. 19 there's a discussion over the differences between Skyrim's approach to the player character and Fallout: New Vegas' at 24:00. Also some assorted criticism of Bethesda's latest title and general videogame talk, if you're into that stuff. (Thanks smejki)

- Modder moburma80, responsible for the excellent New Vegas Uncut mod series, has penned a guide to New Vegas' cut content. Most of it is based on the leftover code in the files, but he also pulls from various other sources, including even Chris Avellone's recent Project Eternity talk at Rezzed. Chris probably didn't realize someone would manage to extract information by a slide shown briefly during a 45 minutes talk, but that's a dev's life for you.

- Fans of FOnline will be happy to know that now they can work with the mod's source codes and tools that have been released.

- Also, and we'll have a proper newspost on it when it's released, the Wayside Creation folks have announced that they'll release a Fallout: Nuka Break short called "Red Star" this Friday. The short will debut on Machinima Prime and it's described as having a darker tone compared to the comedic web series.

And this should be all! Feel free to let us know if we missed something and keep providing us with good tips so we don't actually have to work and find the news ourselves!

Cut Content:

Jason Bergman posted on the game's official forums about how Fallout: New Vegas was going to have romancing options for companions, which were abandoned due to lack of time. The endgame of Cass' romance plotline would involve the player waking up drunk and finding themselves married to Cass (by the King!). This was never even started, and there is nothing regarding it in the final game.

Haha. Well that is one romance subplot that I actually would have wanted to see unfold.

One of the biggest omissions of the game was not having a sort of cliche Vegas marriage quest.

Would make for a good Wild Wasteland addition. A chapel where you can marry anything. Your gun, your power armor, Rex...
