Fallout Windowed Mode Utility

Dracon M'Alkir

Vault Senior Citizen
A generic DirectDraw patcher that I found laying around on my hard drive. Somebody asked if it was possible to run Fallout/Fallout II in a window, and I told them I never tried. Well, now I've tried and it works. I cannot take credit for the patcher because I didn't create it. To be truly honest, I don't even know who did; so if anybody knows the true creator - all of the credit goes to them. I am also pretty sure that it's not copyrighted in any way or anything like that, so don't start flaming me insanely. Also: I'm not sure if I posted in the right forum, either.

Added a .zip version to the list of mirrors.

When I used this program I could play Fallout just fine except that when a video or talking head came up, the screen went completely black and returned to to normal when the video was over or I exited out of dialog. Maybe I didn't configure it to run Fallout right? What options should I select when I configure it, or is this not fixable as of yet? Thanks.

I don't know, the talking heads seem to be functioning correctly.

Edit: The windowed mode patcher seems to have trouble dealing with playing the videos that are in Fallout.

I'm sorry about that, I understand the pain you are feeling when I tried to get 64-bit drivers for Debian Linux.

Perhaps you can find a way to run this specific application in 32-bit mode? I am 100% certain that Fallout 1+2 are 32-bit because they were developed in a time where 64-bit processors were office fiction at Intel.

As for the above poster:

I get this specific error message.

I running A UK version of Fallout 2 on a Win XP machine using Killap's expansion mod!
