Fallout2 savegame converter does not work

Hi all,

I just playing and finished the game the three times throughout the last 7 years. And so just for comming in a good mood for Fallout3 I just started a fourth time.

But my Problem ist that i just forgot to update Fallout2 to v.1.02 and to use the child patch and the resolution patch.

But now I invested not less time in the game and just dont want to start a fifth time. Yes I played Fallout once with version 1.01 but it was ok and not so hardcore buggy.
Anyway.....

I found the savegame converter file on your hp but it did not work. My machine says: Cannot find Fallout 2 savegame directory

I read before that this could be caused by the exe file which only would work when the game is installed under C:\Progam files\BlackIsle\Fallout2\data....

So I installed Fallout2 on C: harddisk and moved there my old saves, patched to 1.02.....tried to convert.....but it did not work....

Could it be a problem that Iam useing the german Version of Fallout2?? So the converter cant work??
Why is readme file of the converter not readable. The letters make no sence. Why is it a .ru file??

Can anyone help me??

Hi,

isnt there someone out there who can help me with the savegame converter problem. I installed it serveral times on C:\ or moved all the savegame to the requested places but it still not working.

Please dont leave me alone, I am know in game halfetime, so it would be nice not to start from scratch....

I have never used the converter and I don't have a German version either... but I do have two questions.

1. Are you using Vista?
2. What patch are you trying to convert your saves to?

Per says in his guide that the unofficial converter works with US versions and not the European ones.

I am useing Windows XP with SP3

and I just want to play the game with your 1.8 resolution patch and the 1.02 gamepatch

Thats no good news.....when the converter isnt working for european and in special for the german edition of fallout2

So it seems that I have to start from scratch again
