fallout2, tanker problems: fob + navcom parts can't be used

hey guys, got a bit of a prob in F2
playing on patch 1.02

got the FOB, got the navcom parts
and finished all the quests in SF, at the tanker, ready to head to the oilrig, however i can't use the parts on any computer equipment..... is this a bug? if so, how to fix?

also, seraph's F2 patch.... is that compatible with 1.02 savegames?

the computers you need to use it on are below deck (gotta get there with a ladder from below), not in the captains cabin

you also need to fuel before leaving

and here i was thinking itw as the captains cabin
i played the game like 3 - 4 years ago, and had this (possibly fake) memory of me slamming the FOB into the computer at the top lol

It wasnt possibly fake. It was fake.

Make sure to save before heading belowdeck.
