from a PR standpoint I think you should avoid lines like "it's not perfect, but we had fun" - I'd like to think that you did your very best, no matter the outcome. this way you could get people fund your project next time as well .)
 
I like the effort. 25minutes is not easy to come up with.

have you tried to simplify dialog and voice over (200 years past any public schooling)?

In the next FO film, you might want to Make the people, clothes, and guns dirtier. Add a darker filter in post production, most of your shots seem too bright (though not the one where the guy is dancing to the record)

Have you tried lighting with candles and lanterns? it gives off a different light. You can also light from out of view using regular lights but with the colored tissue paper streamers in front of them (and fans) to create a flickering effect.

add more hand made stuff (Not everything is going to be factory new)
