Fan patch for The Temple of Elemental Evil @ Circle of Eight

Dan

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
Troika's new game, as loveable as it might be, is featuring a pretty impressive amount and mixture of bugs.
there is already an offical patch in the works by now, but the work on this fan patch started before it and besides fixing the bugs it adds stuff like the brothel which Atari has kindely taken out.

So, anyway, download it from any of these mirrors:<blockquote>http://www.rpgcodex.com/downloads/t...ixes_V1_0_0.exe

Full details at this NMA thread.

[pimpage]Oh, by the way, this patch was created in the Circle of Eight, "a cool site for cool people".[/pimpage]

Hmm, so maybe the game could be worth getting afterall???

Just bought it yesterday, so I can't tell you yet.

You need to realise that even though you expect certain things after playing Arcanum and Fallout, this is basicly a D&D game that is much more combat orianted. Even though, the combat is turn based and has a pretty well developed array of tactical options. While I will not say it is non-linear, it certinly has more then one non-linear way to finish and play it. Meaning, depending on your alignment you pick at the start your game will be different through the entire game, you will probably have no way to stray from the storyline which means it is linear, but still has a re-playabilty factor. Add the patch with bug fixes and the mature content and you end up with a pretty good game.

Yeah that's the things that will make it worthwhile to buy instead of just ripping your friend's copy. Take note ATARI!

Sounds like another mediocre D&D game. I heard reviewers say Baldur's Gate 2 was a lot better and more complex.

Baldur's Gate had a longer story and more loot, I don't know if that actually adds up to "more complex" though. ToEE's combat is so much better than BG2's that it more than makes up for having a shorter story arc - you actually have tactical options, spells that were completely useless in BG2 work wonderfully in ToEE, and every battle is much more varied than BG2. I'm kinda biased, but I have to say it's not mediocre in any way, and it can hold its own against BG2. (BTW I beat BG2 twice and liked it a lot, so I'm not just bashing it for the sake of it.)
