Fanout question

We can say that Fanout is pretty much dead. But I was wondering how much work was done. Did you finish some towns or completed full quests?

It would be a shame that all of the work was in vain so did you gave finish stuff to other mod projects or did all de made stuff disappear with the lost members.

I don't think it quite works that way. Trying to build on the failed ingredients of someone else's project should involve a lot of unnecessary grief, not to mention integrating it with more of the same.

But we could use some work of other guys that was sucessful. Like use the critters and items of L.I.M.O.N on black steal and so on.

Get the point? If all work together, "we" can do something out of this!

that is the trick in ANY mod: working together

also (in no particular order):
- good design
- milestone roadmap
- IMPLEMENTATION

i keep reading about all the mods "in-progress" and all the "cool" things to add to it. They make some items, a few cretures, make a little demo to show of said items and critters, but it seems to fall apart in the end when the major chunk of scripting and QA comes into play.

i know fan made mods have contraints on time and budget (i.e. NO budget ) and distance between team member (if a mod is being done by one person), but still... an unfinished mod is unfinished. in fact a crappy *finished* mod is slightly better IMO (for example, i hear lots of complaints about the design of the new WM2 mod.... crappy or not, at least it was done)

I do believe some dead mods can be used for other mods. Maybe its just giving them new ideas. but then the dead mod had some use.

Fanout seemed like a nice mod. I don't know how far they came with the whole concept, but there should be some stuff left that they can release. I don't expect a reunion anytime soon...
