Fanout Update

Well it's been a couple of slow news days hasn't it, but that all ends today. PsychoSniper informed me of the weekly update from the Fanout project, here's the news:
Some of the 'missing' members have shown their heads. (some remain missing)

Weve recived news on our missing leader, EnderAndrew. Seems his PC died. He'll return with a new PC once he gets one.

Were sketching out the democity, Estes, and have got a decent idea of its layout. Mapping will commence shortly, most likley. The starting city will likley be approx 10 differnt maps, though it could be more or less depending on what we cut from the demo. I'd show some pics of the sketches, but most of em are simple MSpaint drawings that wont make sense to anyone execpt for the team members, since were imersed in the lore of the design doc.

Were basicly still in preproduction, but were getting steady, albiet slow, progress.
Good to hear, now onto showing us some progress!

I'd suggest less. Ten maps seems a little large for a PA "city". Unless some of them aren't really full maps, just quest related stuff (like Torr's Brahmin, Farrels Garden etc.).

Yeah! Stop wasting your time with weekly updates when you have nothing to report! ;)
Seriously though, is this just a "We're still not dead" kind of weekly update? Personally, I'd prefer you (and NWS/MR) dropped the "Weekly/Monthly Update" and just updated when there's something tangible to show us. FMF however, could do with starting a "We're still not dead!" update schedule, as they've been pretty quiet.

Anyway, good luck guys.

Yeah, most of the maps that were slated as of that release were going to be side stuff, such as the town sewers and such, and a few quest releated ones. The main town itself, ie the inhabited portions, will be 2-3 maps (3-4 if the farming area has housing for anyone other than the farmers).

And Bigt, thepdates arnt really a waste of time since theyre so quick to make. That, and they serve as motivation to get new things made.

They are, however, annoying. Seeing a headline with "Update" in it, you expect something more than a placeholder, it makes people lose interest in the project. Take the Fall for instance: by constantly churning out press releases they lost a lot of potential customers (of course, their bigest problem now is the crappiness of the software, but that's unrealated). Or, as another example, Bethesda. Remember how annoying it was when they kept makingstatements to various parts of the gaming press without having a clue what was really going on?
Same thing, although on a different scale.

Ah, that's a little more reassuring.

Well we were going to bring out the November PR either today or tommorow, but instead have just decided to say "We're still not dead"

Actaully there is a good reason why we release the monthly PRs, for starters I used to get frustrated by mod teams not making any updates for months.
