Fathers and Sons (Boomers' bug)

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
Just wanted to share.
Yesterday on my second walkthrough I've experienced a funny bug.
I've managed to get into the Boomers' base and did couple of quests for them already, then travelled somewhere else. Then I decided to get to Nellis without fast travel. So when I got close to the ruins before their base, I saw that they were bombing that area.

Okay, I thought, maybe they do it just for fun and will stop when I get there. But they didn't. Boom! My limbs are flying somewhere without me. Loading last save... Ooookay, maybe they don't stop because I have followers with me? I'll make them wait here. But the bombardment didn't stop again.

And then I saw... a miracle... Two small kids went straight out of the explosion. Wow. That was quite a sight. They were just having a nice stroll around the ruins while the projectiles were hitting them. As you remember, the kids are immortal. But somehow the projectiles didn't affect them at all. They weren't falling unconscious, they weren't even thrown away by the blasts.

But the most funny thing is who those kids were. When they got closer, the bombardment stopped for a while and I managed to talk to them. And it appeared they were... Boomers' kids!
So, technically, somehow the AI haven't recognized them as "friendly" and made the Boomers bomb their own children.
But putting that aside, that just looked crazy. Oh, hat cruel post apocalyptic world! Don't leave home, kids!

Btw, [spoiler:fff6b0ffb0]the boy can be offered drugs, which results in losing reputation within Boomers. You can also pass a charisma check and gain reputation (both kids have that option). Other option for the girl is to give her a toy rocket. Which actually was a pleasant surprise for me as I somehow picked this thing somewhere and was carrying it for no purpose.[/spoiler:fff6b0ffb0]

P.S. I've made a save there, so If you advise some good screen capturing software, I would make a video.

That sounds hilarious. It sucks when the game really bugs out and breaks but sometimes bugs can be pretty funny as well.

The only bit about the kids I know you could do was use Charisma to gain influence, didn't know about that other stuff you posted. That's great.

I always shoot at people and make them run towards the Boomers, just to see them get blown to oblivion.

That is just ridiculous, though. Damn Bethesda.

Haha, there's a "killable kids" mod out there... I think I'm gonna watch a little show by Nellis ...
