Fatigue stat in Fallout 3?

JE Sawyer have suggested (haven't seen this before)a fatigue stat for future titles (I'm guessing for Fallout 3), here is a quote from the IPLY boards:<blockquote>Frizzy wrote: "There is something between: healthy/wounded fully operating -> dead."

Fatigue isn't something you accrue by doing mundane things. It increases as you do things like come down from chems (and super-stims), perform extremely strenuous actions (unarmed combos), and "bash" damage that's a portion of the damage absorbed by armor.

It goes up, hit points go down. Fatigue is lowered by your Healing Rate every round. If your Fatigue passes your current hit points, momma said knock you out. When your Fatigue drops below your current hit points, you wake up again.</blockquote>Actually a fatigue level sounds good, it would make combat more interesting.

I'd much rather a 'death's door' kind of thing where you (and your NPCs) pass out if your HP drops from 0 to -9 and you lose 1 HP per round (this is a la DnD I believe). At -10 or lower, you're dead. JE's system sound like it will be complicating a system whose simplicity was one of its best points.

I'd rather blunt-force knockout to be a critical hit thing. So if you're dying to just knock someone out, maybe knockout-type HtH attacks, blunt melee, and some non-necessarily-lethal ranged (rocks, etc.) could have relatively high KO critical rates.
 
Yea this sounds kinda weird. When you get really weak, you're almost guaranteed to be knocked out and thus, guaranteed to be dead. Unless fatigue increases VERY slowly. I see many battles resulting in everybody falling over unconsious :).

That was my big peeve in Arcanum when i would fight and then just roll over and lie there. Fatigue = unconsciousness is one of the most annoying micromanagement aspects of all games out there :).
 
lilfyffedawg said it. Fatigue in Arcanum was just another way of saying "you're dead". I can't remember the number of times it;d drop to zero and I'd pass out, even if I had full health. It was then just a matter of time as I watched everyone kick me to death.

Not fun. The problem is once you're out, you're out. You get knocked out, you're dead. It won't "come back up" fast enough during combat.

In other words, you'll always pass out and get beaten to death as you lie there unconscious.

I must admit it made weapons like the tranquilizer gun in Arcanum super-fun. All you needed was to pull that out and knock out all your enemies, then kill them. Absolute Over-powered Uber-Weapon.

I'm against fatigue. I prefer Fallout's original occasional, unexpected knock-outs.
 
The Black Tariff was signed into law somewhat reluctantly by President John Tyler, following a year of disputes with the Whig leaders in Congress over the restoration of national banking and the government's land disbursement policies. For the previous year, Whig leaders in Congress had sent bills to Tyler coupling the tariff hike with a public land disbursement package insisted upon by Henry Clay, prompting a presidential veto. In the summer of 1842 representatives from the northeastern manufacturing states began feeling electoral pressures for a tariff hike before the elections that fall and abandoned Clay's land disbursement program. The resulting bill contained the tariff hike alone that satisfied the manufacturers and was acceptable to Tyler, since it lacked the land disbursement provisions. The main beneficiary industry to receive protection under the tariff was iron. Import taxes on iron goods, both raw and manufactured, amounted to almost two thirds of their price overall and exceeded 100% on many items such as nails and hoop iron. The law also raised the percentage of dutiable goods from just over 50% of all imports to over 85% of all imports.
