Fbos could help Fo3?

Not likely, but this is what the previewer from HomeLAN Fed of Fbos posted in his "preview" of the game:
Fans of the Fallout franchise will likely be a hard sell for this game but if you like console action-RPGs with a bit of a satirical humor theme, then Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel may be something that could be up your alley. Interplay plans to release Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel in both its PS2 and Xbox versions later this month. Who knows? If this game sells well, it may be enough of an incentive for Interplay to start up development of Fallout 3 again.
Guess this guy doesn't get it either, if the title sells then it's obvious that they will produce another Fbos title.. IPLY, in it's all knowning wisdom, have decided to start another fbos title without testing the waters first.. go figure!

If interplay want to make any money of FO3 - and to do that they have to get the support of the fans - the only way possible is for them to lease out the license to some third party, or to sell it completely. Developing FO3 in-house after all that has happened would not be good.

I'm gonna agree with you, Teatime. Ever since the Caen's took over, like Feargus said, Iply has basically stopped caring about PC titles, and are instead selling out to consoles. The reasons why this is stupid are too numerous to list here and have mostly been touch upon in other parts of the forum. But this was the proverbial straw the broke the camel's back. Iply can rot for all I, or most anyone here, care.

Hahhaha, Hey Saint P., way to knock the idiots' face in the dirt.

JCal is pretty cool. He's just misguided at times, and he does all the work on HomeLAN Fed himself as far as I can tell. It's most likely he didn't even know that when he wrote that preview. Hell, he probably played the preview build of Fallout Enforcer with one hand, was busy writing an interview with the other, all while posting news and emailing developers with his feet.

JCal's probably the hardest working guy in internet gaming journalism. The man's a damned machine when it comes down to doing what he does at HomeLAN Fed.

Out-Sourcing

Out-Sourcing

Granted, there is the relativity of time, and space, that has as much to do with whether any of us is reading off the same page at the same moment. Makes this drama more like a stream of our collective conscious / unconscious.

I will take this as an opportunity to direct the group attention to the prevailing industrial trend of out-sourcing.

Job flight.

Consider, the ruthless corporate entities that populate that dark tower of entertainment: Vivendi, and its fellow travelers at Interplay.

If these entities "thought" they could make an accelerated rate of profit on a FO3 title, they could only "see'' console. And, the potential
of biding out the work to an independent SUB contractor.

The south asian sub continent may have as much a chance as the Australians.

FO in a "Ball-ee"wood musical venue. What a concept!

This sounds to me like a stunt to make us buy their other titles. They know of the fan base outrage on them scrapping FO3, and they want to turn this to their advantage.

And it's the ageold story. They say "Money first", we say "Game first". They say "How do we know you wont copy the game?", we say "How do we know you'll make the game even if I buy two other titles from you?"

They say "Give us money and we might consider it", we say "consider it and make it THEN you'll see my money".

Fallout did corner a market, but an unexpected segment that people needed to adjust to. I think we are more ready now, and FO3 would sell well. If the same amount of game review sites were available when FO2 was launched, then the message would get out quicker. I purchased FO2 from a "10$ for any title"-treasure chest long time after it was out, so I don't think I showed up on any sales figures... but look at me now.

Trashing FO3 was a mistake.
