Few questions about changing npc companions proto files

First of all - i wish to know what is exactly meaning of protos for npc companions like Sulik. There is few files for each of them. For example: Vic have 62 and 373-378 - which file define what?

What is difference between base stats and extra?

For them stats CHA, INT change anything?

I am using f.u.c.k. all time.
When I looked to PRO_CRIT.MSG I got answer to first question, but there is another:
I'm opening 00000315.pro to edit Sulik 6 lvl, when program gives an error (error reading pro_crit.msg).
In pro_crit.msg it looks like:
{31000}{}{Sulik - Stage 1}
{31100}{}{Sulik - Stage 2}
{31200}{}{Sulik - Stage 3}
{31300}{}{Sulik - Stage 4}
{31400}{}{Sulik - Stage 5}
{31500}{}{Sulik - Stage 6}
And I opened normally any another pro.

Anybody knows why I get "error reading pro_crit.msg" any time I open 00000315.pro?
