I just saw the new Final Fantasy CGI motion picture. The way that computer generated images can portray human emotion is getting downright disconcerting.

The main characters were well animated, however when Acci (sp?) tried to cry they couldn't get hte emotion right, also something about her didn't seem right. The other guy (forgot name saw it a long time ago) was very good though. However the non-main characters looked a bit plastic sometimes.

Yes I think her entire figure seemed a little off.. but I think her face was among the best animated, especially her hair. And the other guy's name was Captain Grey I think.

Yes the extras running around were a lot less detailed.
I also saw that movie Shrek and I'm trying to decide whether FF's animation was better or simply less cartoon-like.

It's definately worth seeing, even if only to see how good the animation is. Highly entertaining.

An excelent piece of work, I myself consider it basically the epitomy of American animation, although classic Anime still has it whipped. Which leads us to the simple reason why Final Fantasy is so well done: it was done almost entirely by the animators of Squaresoft, in Japan (I'm not sure whether it was done in Japan per se, but 99% of the acredited people (aside from the cast) had Japanesse names). Guess we can't call it American animation afterall. And, although it apeals to a wide base of moviegoers, someone who is familiar with the Squaresoft style will apreciate the movie much more.

I thought Shrek was really well done. It certainly put Pixar and their aged Renderman studio to shame. Everything that Pixar produces looks the same because it supports only certain surface rendering techniques to my knowledge. Some of the stuff I saw in Shrek seriously looked like it was done using models, like the castle and ropes near the dragon lair. The walking and facial movement looked (more) realistic too.

They do have some pretty good writing... I like movies with Eddie Murphy in them... that black humor is so hilarious.

im a huge john goodman fan. he was the reason that 'rosanne' was funny. and after his performance in 'the big leboski' i'll watch anything with him in it.
