Fallout 1 should have been about 50% larger, with a better endgame.

Ive known that for a while, and he states that in his Dev profile.

Heres my question.

Does anyone know anything of what was planned to be added, and is there any interst to 'finish' making the origonal FO ?
And would the people that worked on the origonal be willing to tell us what they had planned or wanted so this could be done as true to the spirit of the game as possible.

They planned to add the "Burrows" location near the glow and the "Viper" clan somewhere near the junktown. More info can be found Fallout Bible.

I have a FRM you could use for the Raccoons that were going to be in the Borrows (I thought that was going to be in FO2, not FO1)

Hold onto it for now w_k, since I really lack the knowledge to do anything with it.

Im just hoping that some people who actualy have the skills will take this up, prehaps the MR team once they finish MR ?

Best idea, in my mind (dont know if its practical), is to remake FO1 in the FO2 engine and fuly add in all of the thngs that were left out (as told by whatever trustworthy sources we can find) plus also adding some NMA special encounters/eastereggs (but as spec encounters/well blended things only.). And also take a california map, and add in numerous small vilages and other things to explore based off of where things are in the real California.

didn't fallout 1 and 2 use the same engine already ?

I like the idea of a mod for enlarging Fo1. The 2 things I didn't like about Fo1 was that the joinable npc's didn't leveling up and the 27 maximum level.

other then that i wouldn't know what to change in such mod

I was going to do a similar project but have been too busy with RL to work on any mods for awhile. One thing you might have trouble with is the 'Tell me abouts' and the pipboy reminder which shows the number of days you have before the vault runs out of water. The 'Tell me abouts' could be scripted to work from a dialog input screen. Alternatively you could script them so certain keywords don't appear on the dialog list until you have completed certain quests.

Does anybody have info on the original plans for the "endgame"?
I don't think I've read about it in the bible.

The unoffical Patch for FO2 is fast becoming a "finish Fallout 2" mod. As other modders are slowy completing various bits and peices for their own mods, they are being put together into the unoffical patch. Like the Abbey for example, and I'm sure as other ones are completed they will also be added.

@Skynet, do you any more information on the Borrows?

sounds like a great idea but would take HUMONGOUS amounts of work

but even if it was possible, wouldnt it lead to a licence problem? you are free to mod, but remaking the first game with the second engine might not be quite so legal you know...

As long as we dont make money it should bne fine.

And its not like Iply has the money to harass modders.

Or in the installers license agreement it says "You must own both FO1 and FO2 to install this mod..."

Or you just make an automated scripts that unpacks the original FO1 Dats to the Fallout2\Data folder and then only installs the new custom scripts and any changes that needed to be made...

be careful dude, they might just get the idea to sew modders to make some extra money

Doubt it.

We'd hafta HAVE money first.

Since when was that a requirement for being sued? RIAA doesn't care for sure.

Wild_Qwerty:
Download the Fallout Bibles. There was a lot of info on the missing areas, IIRC.

Which bibble number should I DL for the FO1 info ? (56k is slow)

And Interplay doesnt have the money to sue when they cant make money from it.

They cant even pay their rent or employees.

Maybe you could buy the source code for FO1 (but not the name fallout) for a few thousand.

Meh, just make a mod, and make it in such a way that you cant play it unless you have FO1/2 that way we cant get sued.
