Flamer Build?

Most Big Guns fire multiple rounds at once, capable of causing massive damage. The only exceptions are the Flamer and the Rocket Launcher. Due to the fact that they only fire off one round per attack, they deal much more damage per shot than each bullet fired off by heavy machineguns.

This thread discusses the Flamer and the Improved Flamer. Both deal massive damage per attack, but the range is very short. The ammo is also very heavy, at one pound per shot! For longer range, you would need to use a pistol from Small Guns, especially for ammo conservation purposes. In Fallout 2, you can get MK II Fuel which has better armor penetration than the normal fuel.

Since you fire off one round per attack, Bonus Ranged Damage is pretty worthless. Pyromaniac give you five more points, which is also quite small. From what I understand, the perk is much more powerful in 3 and NV as it increases damage with fire weapons by 50%. I'm thinking that Bonus Move would be more useful for a Flamer build.

But is this a build truly worth making? Has anyone ever tried a build using these weapons? Just how effective is it? What was your experience?
