Flares stop working?

Wounded Ronin

First time out of the vault
I've been tinkering with the guns, ammunition, and alcohol using Cubik's item editor, but I noticed something strange recently during playtesting.

It appears that even though I didn't actually edit flares at all I no longer have the option of activating flares from my inventory. In other words, I can no longer change an unlit flare to a lit flare.

What has happened?

Thanks for the help.

The most important thing that happened is that you completely forgot to mention the following important information:
1. Language version (US, UK, GER, RUS)
2. Patch version, official patch or a custom like killap's?
3. Any mods in use?
4. Optional: how about a screenshot so we can actually have a look OR a savegame so we can experience the problem ourselves and report back if it doesn't work for us either?

Right, good point. In order, then:

1.) US, I'm pretty sure. My fallout CDs were actually sent to me as a gift by a friend from Canada...they were part of some kind of value pack where you got both Fallout CDs as one purchase. There *are* children in my game, so I'm guessing it's the US language version.
2.) I didn't patch the game at all, so it's probably just come with the official patch.
3.) No mods besides for my tinkering with weapon and drug stats and pictures.
4.) My copy of Fallout 2 is on another computer, but I should be able to go and buy some flares, save the game, and upload the savegame somewhere. My internet access is relatively poor but I can do that ASAP.

Hmm you should prolly try killap's latest patch in this case.

Maybe it gets rid of this issue. You shouldn't play the unpatched Fallout 2 anyway as there is a horrible number of bugs.

On the other side: you'll need to start from scratch because your old saves won't work anymore. But you'll encouter more serious bugs with the unpatched 1.00 so go for killap's patch.
