Xotor, this shit is so whacked out it reeks of blatant flame

You think that AC is any better, anyone? EQ or UO? Where is the 'setting' in any of those aside from that one little RP guild off in the corner that is made fun of and picked on? That's right. Macro sellers and shit like that are heavily present in the game.
People really need to start thinking about technical problems before they go blathering on about features and other comparatively worthless shit. I'm not going to repost them, because there's a SHITLOAD, and it's in about thirty different threads. If someone wants to find them, look in a couple of locked messages a bit down the board.
I like both Fallout and AC. Both are great for what they were INTENDED FROM THE BEGINNING.
Fallout: Post-apocalyptic P&P-style RPG with a well-crafted system and setting.
AC: Online game that frequently updates and has varying content.
>1. Set up a sub-division of Black Isle that would be responsible for maintenance of the online universe.
(cip) Origin. Nice way to lose focus of other things, there. What else does Origin do? Nothing much anymore. It's now an online company for EA. Ultima is gone. Worlds of Ultima are gone. Wing Commander is dead or dying. UO had a crippling effect upon the whole production value of Origin.
Sure, let's do that to BIS.
>2. Use a 3D engine i.e. ID software’s latest.
1st instance of programming cluelessness.
>3. Make it cross platform, heh heh; Xbox, PS2, Win, Linux, and Mac
2nd instance of programming cluelessness. No, wait...computer cluelessness. Programming for THAT much entails even more resources than Turbine has involved, or even Verant. It couldn't run ID's latest, and to come up with anything that would run platform-independant it would either need to have very basic server-client interface, or be one BITCH of a user-resource hog as it would require a build of something from the ground up and not involving DirectX or any other base capability.
>4. Set up a certain number of quests and update them of course. ( I know it sounds like a few online RPGs that are already up but I would rather play in the Fallout universe than in a medieval one, yech!)
What Fallout universe? To be honest, UO/EQ/AC really resemble nothing like a medieval universe. The setting of Fallout would be LOST, period. You'd be in some sparsely-dotted landscape with a few scraggly trees, a few rocks. Yeah, in an online game I'd like to run through THAT shit for miles on end. I've run through a while in one of AC's deserts. Boring, bland, and uninspiring. A great way to use server space, and it would not attract the croud that goes 'moo', which is what online games require to keep running.
Oh, and remember that there's going to be very few towns and everything, where a lot of newbies are going to be huddled, etc. That kind of kills the setting too, where there's about 50 mercenaries jammed into the same small area when it's supposed to be 'mankind limping back to health', doesn't it? It'll also be a load of camping spawn-points and all. 'Raiders against the Rangers' has been another thing that's been brought up. "Why don't some play the rangers and the others play the Rangers?" Sorry, it just doesn't work that way. Just like in UO/AC, where trade skills are just for mules, and 99% of the online characters are fighters of some sort, nobody would be really interested in 'going up in organized teams and beating the hell out of each other'. To think otherwise makes me think you've never been in an actual online game guild warefare.
-Fin,
The Roshambo Warrior, hoping that the entire human race gets nuked before it becomes too stupid for itself.

Dennis Leary stole my song! That...asshole!

"Robert, your time has come!"
"OOOH! Thank you, Master!"
"Don't mention it."

It's me, Jack Brown! The wind-up ass-hole!
