For those with the mental capacity of a tree stump..
[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON May-17-01 AT 03:04PM (GMT)[p]Okay, smitty.. Here's why..
The game sucks because:
1.) It's linear. You can say "It's not like FO" all you want, that doesn't change the fact that linear game play sucks. Play it once, you're done. There won't be anything new the second time through. In fact, you'll have to play it through the exact same way. Joy!
2.) As stated earlier, it fucks with the Fallout time line. The BOS guy(Matt) in Fallout 2 says the BOS doesn't have a means of flight. Yet they have blimps in FOT. Why do Deathclaws talk? The Enclave made the only talking Deathclaws, and then turned around and slaughtered them at Vault13. That's 40 years AFTER Fallout Tactics.
3.) The missions are stupid. Consider Mission 4 where you have to escort a hummer, which is an off road vehicle, through a town filled with raiders and hostile civilians. Now, once again, the hummer is an off road vehicle.. If the town is a problem, they can go AROUND it instead because the hummer is an off road vehicle. Did I mention the fact a hummer is an off road vehicle?
4.) Interplay didn't care enough to make FOT a good game. The fact you think a 12 month title is a quality one reflects greatly on your sense of worth.
5.) Why the hell is the metal armor modelled after fantasy platemail? If there wasn't so much metal and chains on that Fallout Tactics armor, like the traditional Fallout metal armor, perhaps you could actually SNEAK in the damned thing.
6.) The random encounters are just really stupid. At least Fallout 2 made sure that there were two different sides in the "versus" REs.. "Beastlords vs. Beastlords" anyone?
7.) Beastlords. Do I have to mention that people who control animals with their minds and live in a dungeon under a graveyard have no place in Fallout? That's a Fantasy motiff.
8.) The ending is piss poor. Yay, let's shoot some defenseless brains!
9.) The weapons were idiotic. Why the hell are European WW2 weapons common in the U.S. 250 years after WW2 ended, and 120 years after the Great War(that's when the nuclear bombs were dropped, BTW)? Why aren't the weapons that were common at the time of the Great War in the game?
10.) Why can't supermutants wield plasma rifles and laser rifles? They could in Fallout and Fallout 2. In fact, that's what most of them had.
11.) How come you can't see cities until the BOS tells you they exist? Do entire cities have really high sneak skills?
12.) The Quartermaster never repenishes ammo. The BOS can make custom power armor, why can't they make ammo?
13.) Why do they use Scribes to scout? Scribes are researchers and mechanics, not warriors.
14.) Where are the centaurs and floaters? They're just as much a part of the Master's Army as SuperMutants. It makes me wonder if there's a huge gathering of centaurs on the West side of the Rockies sitting around saying, "They'll come back for us. They wouldn't leave us here."
15.) Discontinuity within the game itself. How come the description of the Super Micro Sledge says the BOS developed it, yet you find it in a "sealed" Fusion Battery storage facility? After all, the thing's been sealed since the Great War. Also, for a Fusion Battery storage facility, I find it odd that there's only four batteries there and the batteries are in really stupid places, like desk drawers.
I could keep going, if you'd like since FOT is loaded with stupid things.
