FO1 and FO2; UK/EU and US

Greetings to all you contaminated people, first time writing here. I just installed the game and whoa, all that nostalgy hit me right between the eyes. It has been a long time, allmost like meeting a good old friend. Enough of this crap and to the point..

As the topic may have uveiled, my question is about the regional differences between the Fallout games. My version of the game was UK1.2 right out of the box. I red a FAQ about FO1 that told me NOT (under any circumstance) to patch to 1.2 (and for some reason didn't explain why) and it made me wonder why so..

Well, after some research I bumped to this site and even more questions rised to my head (there are few threads about the same subject), so here we are, since other 'methods' have failed me..

I would like to know what kind of differences there are in the Fallout series between the UK and the US versions and if there are, how do these affect gameplay? (and yes, I used the local search, read FAQs, googled and even visited the official site).

Firstly - there is a lack of children in the UK version so you'll want this file

Secondly don't bother with any of the official patches: the last time interplay released anything was the best part of 8 to 9 years ago!

For FO1 use team x's patch i'd think

Definitely go for the 1.3.2 patch, it fixes a whole mess of bugs. Their NPC mod is a great addition as well.

I think all or almost all European releases should be 1.2 out of the box and there's no need for patching. I think the US patch from 1.0 turned the game into 1.1 and perhaps the FAQ writer was concerned about people patching 1.0 to 1.2, though I doubt there's any cause for alarm. Using the US exe to enable children works perfectly with the UK version.

Apart from the absence of children in the raw UK version, none. There are some very minor textual differences, like changing "shit" to "crap", "drug" to "chem" and stuff like that.
