Automatic Death Scenes

Please help! My enjoyment of Fallout 2 (v 1.01)is being ruined by unavoidable death scenes caused by walking in on an Enclave death squad out in the wilderness. To make matters worse, every time this happens the game crashes and I have to reload it. Would somebody please be so kind as to tell me how to avoid this before I have to destroy the DVD.

Have you installed the final patch from the Interplay site?

That happened me to but for some reason it worked when I had volume to the max and didn´t touch anything :P
