dialogue option 'tell me about'?

I suppose this question has been asked before, but I have just started a new game of Fallout, and I was kind of wondering if the dialogue option 'tell me about' had any real use in the game? I remember I once used it to get some more information out of the two paladins guarding the Brotherhood of Steel bunker (and I recall that the one with the talking head could actually tell me more about the Exodus and the Glow and such), but I never used it anywhere else in the game, because most of the time people didn't know what I was talking about (maybe I just asked stupid questions, huh?). Anyway, does anybody know if this dialogue option can reveal, like, some usefull hints or information during the game? Easter eggs, maybe? Or was it a feature that was not fully developed anyway (it's gone in Fallout 2, right?)? Just curious, really.

RE: dialogue option 'tell me about'?

Some npcs will respond to this, for instance, type in "morpheus" or "master" when talking to lasher in the cathedral, and he'll give you a repsonse.

Yu are never told what to say to anyone either, you just have to guess as to whether or not he'll know.

For instance, with lasher, all I had to go on is that he mentioned the words earlier,so I asked him with this feature once he refused to talk to me again. But the didn't tell me anything new.

I wouldn't bother with it, really. If you manage to get them to respond to something, I honestly doubt you'll learn anything you won't find out with normal conversation.
