FO1 Screen Blackness......

ExtremeRyno

Still Mildly Glowing
I've got a question on FO1. This is the first time I've installed Fallout since I upgraded to WinXP a few years ago....It installed fine, and it seems to work...BUT:

Every few moments the screen goes completely black, and I have to move the PC around to get the colors back...This works for a few moments, and then it does it again.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've ran it in all compatibility modes. Noticed someone with Win2k had the same problem, but their tips to remedy the situation did not work in my case.

There are also some documented cases I found with problems with Radeon video cards..I've got one, and I've got the problem. Couldn't find a way to fix it, though.

I'm moving this thread to the Fallout *HELP* Forum so you can actually get an answer or two.

Not to be nit-picking or anything, but if you check the announcements and the Vats you'll notice that we've been having too many wrong-forum topics being started. Just a note for future reference.

There`s a thread about that problem somewhere, at that time my advice was to move the mouse all around the screen, and the image will show up; but i remember someone found a better solution, please do find the thread.

P.s.: Ozrat are you sure moving this was a good solution? Just asking, nothing more.

You can press F1 to clean the screen quickly. I had the same problem on GF2MX and GF4ti4200, I don't have it on my Radeon card though. Maybe try various versions of the catalyst if you think it's worth the trouble.

Eh..It was a great game, and the only reason I reinstalled it was to check out the Corpse's CheatBoy. I blew up some walls, gave some Bramin a few guns...That's all I wanted to do.

If I really need to play it, I've got a few old laptops that will play it fine.
