[FO1] trouble grabbing big-ish guns

Poked around the forums for 1/2 hour but couldn't find anything like this:

I don't know if this is a bug, or some wierdness with my character stats. I took Alfred (I think that's his name... the smart guy) and funkified him in silly ways.

I have a "White Label" version of FO1 1.2 (also FO2 and FO:T) that I am running on a Mac PowerBook in WinXP (Boot camp). Everything works find except for the mildly annoying 'blackouts' (which I guess I can fix now thanks to this formum)

EXCEPT... I have some trouble with 2-handed and big guns. I can't buy them! If you go to Jakes in the Hub, he has flamers, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers... I can very rarely drag the flamer or RL to the barter board to swap for it, and never with the sniper rifle. My BG skill sucks anyway so I just moved on. Later, I actually GOT a sniper rifle from the Brotherhood and I can use it fine... but if I drop it or trade it I can never get it back! CLARIFICATION: I only have 5 base APs, so I need to take drugs to use the sniper rifle...

This is all livable... trying to just finish the game to try FO2, but I make it down to the lvl 5 in the glow, find the plasma rifle in the locker... BUT CAN'T PICK IT UP! Even if I drop 100 lbs of crap.

Anyone seen this before?
 
I think the problem is that the weapon graphic is much wider than the 'drop zone' of the inventory or barter areas. You need to get it reasonably well centered or it won't be transferred.
 
Oh yeah... THAT problem. Happens all the time. You kinda have to remember where the center of your pointer was when you grab a large graphic item in the barter screen. If that "center" of the pointer doesn't drop in right area then the whole item "misses" the area. It's really annoying.

Or at least the very center of the item... i can't remember which one is correct. Either way, no one ever said F1 and 2 interfaces were super user friendly - seen a LOT worse tho.
 
wow. Funny but I totally guessed that was the problem last night and STILL couldn't get the stupid thing to drop in. But that _has_ to be it because it works "sometimes" (maybe 1% of my random drags).
