What? Is this it?

I bought Fallout 1 a little while ago (because fallout 2 kicked ass), And started playing it. It took me a whole 6 - 8 hours to find the water chip! Is the game really this easy?
The weird thing is, I have no idea where I got the location of the necropolis. I was in Hub minding my own business and doing some various jobs, but when I left the Hub, the Location of the necropolis was in the world map. Oh, and a friend of mine told me, that the super mutants in Necropolis will attack me, but they didn´t. When I talked to them, they said something like "boss is going to hit you if he sees you".
I had 118 days left to find the chip and I didn´t even buy the extra time from the hub. This means I found the water chip in about 30 days. I took the chip to vault 13, and got the mission where you are supposed to find the mutants´ lab. That´s where my game is now.
If that´s the final mission, I think fallout 2 is much better. Don´t get me wrong, I like this game too.

Did you try setting the difficulty of game/combat on hardest?

If you play it the "right" way, it takes a lot longer than that to win the game. And in any case, didn't you enjoy the game and want to play it again and again with different characters?

I agree that F2 is better than F1 in almost every aspect. Computer game sequels, unlike movie sequels, usually are. And no, F1 isn't that extensive, maybe a third of F2, though I assume there are many things you haven't done yet.

Actually the destruction of the mutant lab is a two pronged mission- you have to destroy the enemy base and also destroyed the master. There is also a side quest to visit "the glow" anhd some things to do at the Boneyard, so you have quite a bit left to do.

You might want to slow this down a bit and enjoy the side quests? Did you do the "rescue Tandi" quest? Spend a lot of time in the Junkyard?

Also did you buy these games seperately or in the dual bundle? Getting them both is a deal, seperately (if you are paying over $20) you might be getting screwed in the US. F1 should come bundled with F2. Not sure if this is true overseas.

Don't get me wrong, F1 is a great game, just a lot faster and quite a bit shorter than F2. You are probably best off playing F1 then F2. However, the talking heads in F1 are much better than those in F2 as is the story. Good luck with finishing it off.

He must have skipped a lot of stuff. Between resting from combats and walking to and from the glow ate up 30 days for me.
