It's not hard, there's a method listed in Per's guide that's confusing as fuck, but he also states that you can go around the outside, which is how I always do it. just keep going south past the buildings, and you'll be able to loop around (Only the first few hexes of the green exit grid actually work, don't worry about stepping on the back of it) and eventually reach them. They have to deal with shopkeeper inventories so they will have lots of stuff inside of them. They even restock! Anyway, don't worry if you can't see where you need to go, just try to get an "allowed movement" cursor, and your character will pathfind, even offscreen.
