[FO2] Can't get on the Westin Ranch

Can't get on the Westin Ranch

I have the Bishop quest but can not get on the ranch. I've talked to the sheriff and merck(who I killed after I completed his quests and paid the $50 for info). Is there a karma requirement(I'm a champion of the wastelands)?

if your talking about getting in to that ranch in the new california republic all you have to do is talk to the guard and say something like i need to talk to him, i'm interested in the job or something like that, and he lets you in.

If you stop Jack from killing himself with the bomb in that quest, he says you can go in to see Westin...

Hmm I did both of those things but still it doesn't work. When I talk to the guard all I get are two speaking options per screen.When I say I want to chat with westin all he says is that Westin doesn't chat with just anyone. A few other people in Ncr have said things that make me think westin is dead (merck says something about a crooked dr) but when I go to New Reno the job isn't done. Oh well it's not worth that much Exp

Try talking to the sheriff, and ask him about the job - hell thats the only way i know how to get there - he's at the corner of the shop in downtown NCR.
 
westin ranch bug??? in NCR

I can't disable the force fields that allow you to get into westin ranch, I've tried C4 and repair several thousand times any thoughts?

note: i didn't get the quest to go there, this is my first time playing 2 and I tried to do it without per's guide, so anyways long story short i can't get the quest cause I've killed everyone in the town
 
There's supposed to be a guard on the other side of the energy field who'll lower it for the Lynette's quest to send Westin a message. I don't know if there's any other way to get into the ranch. But it might be hard if you killed everybody in town since there'll be no guard to lower the field.
 
Go out to the world map and come back into NCR. Before clicking in any of the triangles, try hitting the numbers on your keypad? I'm not exactly sure wich one but one of them should brng you to westins ranch.
 
yea that worked except now im stuck in there - if i try to repair force fields it will say you fail, you fail, etc, etc, than will say 50XP for fixing force fields???
 
There should be an exit grid just in front of the force field that should bring you to NCR's centre. You don't need to lower the force field to be able to transit from one area to the other. Ie just walk on the ecit grid and you should be fine.
