Chip is gone before I can get his spleen back!

For a guy who is missing a major organ he sure is impatient. Where is he or is this another damn bug that I'll just have to deal with because Blackisle will never release another patch that will fix all this?

Look at it this way. When a guy is missing a major organ, how long can that guy survive ? Maybe you took to long in retrieving his spleen and he died. Anyway it's not a major quest but i know the feeling of not being able to solve one.

Well, since my Science skill is at 200%, I think I'll try to tackle this question. ;-) The spleen performs many functions--from removing dead blood cells (red and white) to activating white blood cells (to fight off bacteria). It is possible to live without the spleen. Other organs can take over functions performed by the spleen; ie the bone marrow can also remove dead blood cells.

Although it's not a vital organ, I don't think Chip can survive very long without his spleen. He is living in a post-apocolyptic world after all. The radiation and mutant bacteria (you carried in from the Wastes ;-)) probably overwhelmed his weaken immune system.
