Hi,
I've been running FO2 for a long time with no problems for a long time, ending with today. Today I started crashing to desktop, with no error message, immediately after getting the first "Loading, please wait" screen prior to the intro movies. I ran the game using D3Dwindower for the most part, which I had no problems with. Currently, if I run it without the windower, I'll just get a full black screen for a few seconds, then it'll crash. Running it with the windower actually displays the loading screen (windowed), followed by crashing. I've searched these forums, but haven't found anything particularly applicable.
Things I've tried: various install sizes, total removal of d3dwindower, different versions of d3dwindower, running the patched and unpatched versions of FO2, installing the game to a seperate directory, and all available compatibility modes. My cfg file points to the right places, and it's all absolute paths. I know the executable at least gets to the part where it checks those, since not having the cd in causes the missing files error as it should.
I'm running Windows 2000, SP4. Hardware doesn't seem relevant since it used to work fine, and I haven't done any changes to hardware or drivers since it did.
Thanks in advance.
