Do I need a patch?

I thought I'd post this here as the Tech board seems kind of deserted. In Modoc/Ghost Farm, I've taken the message from the underground dwellers back to the village, and have been told to deal with the people who live at the Ghost Farm. When I renter the Ghost Farm area, the game freezes completely and the only way I can get out is to shut my computer down. This has happened several times so I'm assuming there is a real problem instead of a "glitch". Do I need a patch? If so, where can I get one?

The patch could help but don't shoot me if it doesn't. You can download it from the downloads section at the home page of NMA.

If you've got version 1.02, then you don't need a patch. 1.02 is the final version, honed to perfection (ROTFL) through time and evolution (not to mention Interplay stopped making updates after that. :()

Well, I just bought this as a package so I'm assuming it's a recent version, but installing the patch does seem to have helped with some of the problems I was having (the trading problem). I try to avoid patches as most of them are huge these days, and only get them if I really need it, but this one was actually pretty small.
