Fallout 2 crashes...

When I try to run the game, it shows the loading screen and then crashes back to desktop. I have the latest patch installed, and tried the compatibility mode in winxp, but no help at all. Any idea?

-Try it on a friends computer first, then you know whether it's your computer or the CD.
If it's so your computer, get the latest drivers for your video card for a start.

-Make sure it's the correct patch for your version, most likely UK or US. If the CD is goldly decorated, it's the UK one.

-Make sure it's not warez. My brother (Yes, honestly) bought me it for my birthday a few years ago on a pirate CD. It didn't have most of the music or cinematics- and without the vault suit cinematic I don't believe I could acquire it, or leave the village, thus rendering the game pretty short.
I eventually lent the full game off a friend a month later, and last week bought FallOut Radioactive.

Ok, it is a US version and original cd, I used to play it on my old PC with Win98. And I am sure I applied the correct patch. Havent try it on my friends PC yet tho. And I noticed that I dont have a fallout2.cfg in my installed directory, can someone please copy out its contents so I can compile a new one?

If it's not there, then DEFINITELY try reinstalling and applying the patch.

You might want to try tech support. They might be able to help you out if you give them the schematics.
