FO2 Brightness problem

I dont know whats wrong, but when I run FO2 its extremely dark, even when I turn the ingame brightness up to the max its dark. I've updated all hardware drivers and I dont know what the problem is because I never had this problem before when I was running it on WinXP. I've tried changing my desktop brightness to higher levels, but it doesnt affect the games brightness.

Sorry for the repost in here, its just that the tech area doesnt seem to get much traffic.

Btw, I am running a

466 Mhz Celeron
192 Megs of SDRAM
20 gig Western Digital HD
8 gig Maxtor HD
Nvidia 8 meg Vanta Video card
WinXP Pro

hmm, might be your monitor. Have you got problems with brightness other then this game ? If not, you still might be able to adjust the brightness via the monitor. Adjusting brightness via the hardware and not the software.

Yeah, try to swith into some other sofware which works in 640x480 at 60hz, maybe it's juts your monitor having trouble with that resolution and you'd need to boost your birghtness for that res...

Though usually it's the oposite (higher res makes it darker), but maybe some screens might have trouble. Personally I have problem with mine: since the pixels respond at 120hz on newer screens and they only get exposed at 60hz, that's when I get flickering (and another effect could possibly be darker colours too).
