getting dogmeat

hi my name is sabrina and i am a long time player of fo2 and i was wondering since i have found dogmeat but i have never been able to get him as a npc can anybody help me ? :'(

Good to see annother Fallout freak.

Well, here's how to get dogmeat.
Make sure you got a somewhat realistic luck (umm say 5 or 6).
Then stroll through the wastes until you find a random encounter with a bar in it. The sign will say Maltese Falcon. (reference to Fallout 1)
Well, go inside, talk to the doggie and he'll follow you. Tadaah, you got a kick@ss npc now.
Oh, and make sure you heal dogmeat once in a while. He can't use stims himself (that was probably needless to say..)
