Help me please! Save me from myself!
I'm having some really big problems in Fallout 2. Being the perfectionist and raving meglomaniac that I am, I cannot continue to play Fallout 2 until I have set up the "perfect character". Lets not get into any debates on what that may be. My complex is this: having attained the bonus rate of fire perk, I cannot choose on whether to use the Gauss Pistol or the Gauss Rifle. I have just received the Navarro base mission. Now, if I use the gauss pistol i can shoot off 3 normal shots each round that do around 60-70 points of damage per hit. I can also do 2 normal and 1 targeted shot or 2 targeted shots (thanx to bonus rate of fire). The targeted shots go right for the eyes and do around 160 damage per hit. Now the rifle can only shoot 2 normal shots or 2 targeted shots each round. It is safe to say that anything hit in the eyes with a gauss rifle won't be getting back up soon. However, most things I have encountered so far fall with one normal shot from the pistol. I can drop 3 guys a round on average with the pistol instead of only 2 with the rifle. The range on each is the same. Anybody out there know which road I should take? I'm approaching the Enclave in another 15-20 hours. I have killed Enclave soldiers with the pistol in one shot before. Still I can't decide.
