FO2 High Res Patch

I downloaded it to use it but above the Enable button it says the patch is disabled, whether or not I click it. What the hell?

Also, this was the question (as to avoid posting in the Fallout help section, because that place is dead):

What is the "best" color bit and screen resolution to play at?

EDIT: I have to re-install Fallout Trilogy now because it did something to Fallout 1. Fuck this patch.

Windows 7, Folder Name: Program Files 86.

With Fallout 2 I had SFall installed, but I didn't have anything installed for Fallout 1. Didn't work on either. I don't use steam (hate Steam), I use Fallout: Classic Collection.

Doesn't matter now though, I'm reinstalling both games, and I'm not putting that damn patch in (though I missed something before, Fallout 1 on the Classic Collection already has a high res patch that you can optional install (don't know if its as up-to-date, but I went ahead and installed it anyways). Fallout 2 didn't however.

And is the only purpose of the High Res patch to play on a bigger screen (exm: screens bigger, everything's smaller)? If so, I don't even need the patch.

just make a new folder for fallout. you get problems when trying to install it into that Programs(86) folder.

EDIT: I fixed it. I just installed Killap's unofficial patch. At first that screwed up, but after I re installed it it worked. Finally. Thank you though.
