I feel stupid plz help!

It seems rather embarrisingly that the fuel injector for the highwayman(the thingie that makes it more efficient found in klamath) has gone missing from my inventory, i checked the kids in the den if they stole it and i cant find, is there anyway to find it? or do i have to retrace my steps across the whole game world? (such a task would be impossible at this point) is there anyway to find out if its been in stalled in the car without me knowing (it took a full fuel tank down to 81% for a trip from the den to vault city) plz help

I think Smitty, the guy that sells you the car also installs the fuel cell regulator if you have it, if you ask him to. (I think he charges you $750 to do it). Maybe you picked that dialog option without realizing it?

The car is pretty inefficient with fuel, so 19% to go from the Den to VC doesn't sound unreasonable.

One way to improve your mileage which no one ever mentions is to improve your outdoorsman skill and pick the perks that reduce travel time. I might be wrong, but it seems to me that the faster you travel (through higher outdoorsman skill and the assorted perks), the less fuel you use on the trip.

If you suspect the street urchins took your feul injector, check out the shops. They alway pawn what the stole from you immediately.
